About

REFINERY CHURCH began in 1994 when a team of leaders felt compelled to begin a new church in Edmonton.  The goal was not simply to start another church... it was to build a church that unchurched people would love to attend.

Our Mission

To WIN people to Jesus and help them BUILD a growing relationship with Him.

What We Believe

  • ABOUT GOD   We believe in God as revealed in the Bible; one God, in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

  • ABOUT JESUS CHRIST   We believe in the historical Jesus. We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. We believe that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins, that He was buried, that He rose from the dead, and that He will return to bring His believers to heaven, the home that He is now preparing.

  • ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT   The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son. He is present in the world to make men and women aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides Christians with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right.

  • ABOUT THE BIBLE   We believe the Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of God’s Spirit. It is the source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.

  • ABOUT BAPTISM   We believe in baptism by immersion as outlined in the New Testament.

  • ABOUT REMEMBERING JESUS CHRIST   We believe in regular observance of the Lord’s Supper. We remember the life, death, and resurrection of Christ each week through communion.

  • ABOUT SALVATION   We believe in the salvation of mankind. God created humans to have fellowship with Him, but they defied God by sinfully going their own way. As a result, we need God’s saving grace to end our alienation from Him. Salvation comes only through God’s grace – not human effort – and must be received personally by faith and repentance.

  • ABOUT THE CHURCH   The result of being united with Jesus Christ is that all believers become members of His body, the church. The Bible commands believers to gather together to devote themselves to worship, prayer, teaching of the Word, observance of baptism and communion, fellowship, service to the body through the development and use of talents and gifts, and outreach to the world. Whenever God’s people meet regularly in obedience to these commands, there is the local expression of the church.
